Instructions for use

If you don't install a screen-specific system, the boot up will just be a white screen, because this 3.5" display relies on the SPI interface (header) to output video. If you install the system directly from the Raspberry Pi website, you will also get a white screen because there is no SPI driver in the official system, and the system outputs video from HDMI by default. We recommend using our dedicated Raspbian system with the SPI driver already configured. If you want to use your own system, you will have to solve the driver issue by yourself.
